Description
Salvia officinalis L. Lamiacee
Flowering : June-July; purple flowers.
Part used : fresh or dried leaves.
Aroma : characteristic.
Use : fresh leaves used in the kitchen; given their large size, the leaves can also be used for the preparation of stuffed rolls. Also used to flavor meat, eggs, sauces or the famous tortellini butter and sage recipe.
Properties : antiperspirant (to reduce sweat from rheumatic), antibacterial (excellent natural preservative), mycostatic, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory (useful against gingivitis and pharyngitis) and astringents.
Harvesting : of the floret to be carried out in the afternoon.
Indications for cultivation
Exposure : full sun or partial shade; indoors in bright areas.
Planting density : 8 plants per m2; 50 cm between the rows and 25 cm on the row.
