Indications for cultivation
THE SOIL grows well on deep, fresh, medium-textured soils with good fertility.
BASIC FERTILIZATION Make, much earlier than the transplant, and incorporate organic fertilizer (manure, compost) into the soil.
TRANSPLANT Ideal in the cooler hours of the day. Wet the lump well before transplanting to the ground and lightly irrigate the soil to facilitate engraftment. Bury only the lump.
DISTANCE on the row, that is between one plant and another, leave 45-65 cm; between rows leave 80-100 cm for transit.
CULTIVATION CULTURAL CARE Constantly eliminate spontaneous herbs as hosts of numerous parasites. For their containment, the use of mulch is effective. Cucumber does not tolerate too saline waters. By keeping the soil moisture constant, the production of female flowers that will bear fruit is stimulated. Pollination by bees allows the fertilization of flowers (in a protected environment the placement of the hives can encourage production increases). Impale the seedlings for straight and clean fruit.
HARVEST 45-65 days from transplanting according to the period, is scaled and is done every 2-3 days. The harvest takes place with immature and bright green fruits (when fully ripe they are yellow and bitter). Each plant produces 2-3 kg of fruit or 16-20 cucumbers of 160-250 g each. They are kept for 15-20 days at 8-10 ° C.
